Modeling Jesus with our works and words.
At CCR, we take Jesus’ words seriously. And GOINGS are the way in which we actively care for the people and world around us in the way of Jesus. Together we seek the peace and prosperity of Richfield. Goings are not just about projects but embracing a transformational way of life in community. One of Jesus’ most well-known teachings is what is known as “The Great Commission.” As he prepared to send out his followers, Jesus said:
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Rather than immediately sending them across the globe, Jesus first encouraged his followers to be missionaries at home. “In your going — as you interact with your neighbors, talk with your coworkers, have fun with friends and family — make Jesus look so good that other people will want to follow him, too.”
At CCR, we are convinced the health and vitality of our church is intimately connected to the health and vitality of our city. Through observing gifts and gaps, confirming the reality of the things we have perceived, and aligning with the gifts and passions of others in our community, we are hard already hard at work investing in the Richfield:
+ Packing and donating 1,800 loads of laundry detergent to families in need.
+ Serving coffee and hot chocolate at bus stops around the city.
+ Partnering with Richfield schools to collect cold weather gear for students.
+ Partnering with the Spartan Food Shelf to provide food to Richfield High School students.
We’re working hard on partnerships in Richfield to encourage long-term community development, living as the church in our neighborhoods rather than casting church as something you attend for an hour once a week. Stay tuned for some big and exciting ways that CCR is pursuing the peace and prosperity of our city!
